Sustainable entrepreneurship? That's all about climate-neutral printing!
The energy crisis that hit our country in 2022 forced us to look for solutions to reduce energy and production costs. Since then, we have been striving to be a sustainable printing company and have made some constructive changes.
By definition, paper is a sustainable product. It is made from a renewable resource and perfectly recyclable. It is the star in the circular economy. The majority of forests in Europe are FSC and PEFC certified, by the way, which guarantees that the owners of those forests maintain them well, replant them regularly and respect the required social and ecological values. Paper and cardboard can replace a much less environmentally friendly product, namely plastic. Unlike paper, plastic is not biodegradable. So, we are increasingly replacing plastic packaging with paper alternatives, which are in turn printed. The printing industry can also have a positive impact, by using water-based inks that are also biodegradable.
Digital technology has a huge impact on the environment. Every year, for instance, people throw away millions of servers, computers, smartphones and other electronics. Many of these devices contain chemicals that are dangerous for the environment as well as human and animal health. Recycling electronic waste is also much more expensive and technically challenging.
We see it as our duty to reduce the impact to zero. That’s why in terms of sustainability, we set an ambitions short-term goal for ourselves: to be carbon-neutral. How?
> Purchase of 100% green electricity, coming from sustainable sources such as hydropower, solar energy, geothermal energy and biomass.
> No longer use gas.
> Complete renovation of the roof.
> Installation of more than 1,000 solar panels that provide up to 25 % of the energy demand.
> Recovery of the heat of our machinery to heat our offices.
> Replacing all lighting by LED lighting.
> Installation of charging stations and purchase of electric vehicles.
> Reducint the number of inserts in offset.
> Updating our machinery with new, sustainable investments.
> Collaboration with DHL Express for carbon-neutral deliveries.

Did you know that less than 1% of Belgian employers pays out a salary bonus or profit premium to their employees? Well, that’s not the case at DADDY KATE. We think it makes sense that everyone should be able to enjoy good results. Because it’s thanks to our employees that we achieved those results.
20% of our profits
As soon as we make € 100.000 profit, we divide 20% of our profit equally among our employees. Everyone receives the same amount, taking into account their time spent. we 20% van onze winste gelijk over alle medewerkers. Iedereen krijgt dus hetzelfde bedrag, al houden we wel rekening met hun tijdbesteding. So, someone who works part-time, only gets 50% of the wage bonus.
We are convinced that our profits are higher than usual thanks to the extra commitment of our employees.
